Press Release Body: WAKE FOREST, N.C. (November 7, 2007) - Dick Storck, Program Director for WCPE, TheClassicalStation.Org and former Armed Forces Radio and Television Service (AFRTS) announcer, invites listeners across the country to remember those who have served in the United States Armed Forces. Through music, WCPE will remember and honor all service men and women on Veterans Day, Sunday, November 11 (2007315).
WCPE will be participating in Armistice Remembrance, November 11 (2007315) at 1600 hrs (GMT), 11 a.m. (ET). WCPE will broadcast Taps as a momentary remembrance, reflection and honor of the end of WWI and the setting of the sun on all violent conflicts.
During Sunday's Great Sacred Music program 1300 hrs (GMT), 8 a.m. (ET)-1600 hrs (GMT), 11 a.m. (ET), host Ken Hoover will offer several sacred pieces inspired and written in times of conflict and in remembrance of noted military heroes. Included in the three-hour program will be the oratorio, King David by Arthur Honegger, John Rutter's Requiem and the War Requiem by Benjamin Britton.
"Throughout history, music has played an important role during times of conflict," says Hoover. "Music provides connection between troops in distant lands with their friends and family at home, offers healing of the heart, mind and spirit for those suffering loss and passes along the history of the events."
In addition, at 2000hrs (GMT), 3 p.m. (ET), WCPE will offer various United States Armed Services songs honoring the dedication, loyalty and faithfulness of the men and women serving around the world.
